Former Senior Special Assistant on Agriculture and Agribusiness to the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, has warned that the food crisis in the country is likely to continue over a long period of time
According to him, he said that the cause of this present situation is economic instability, insecurity and climate change, the government must as a matter of urgency put in place some measures to tackle every pest infestations and other threats to agricultural productivity.
In the months ahead, there will be more food crisis,” Mr Olotu said.
The agricultural expert, while disclosing this during the annual lecture series of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Ondo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, held in Akure, the state capital, lamented that his previous warning on the food crisis was ignored.
