Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) has confirmed that there was a slight attempt to hack its website domain.
The bank issued this statement on Thursday while addressing recent media reports alleging that hackers had cloned its website to intercept customer data.
Our attention has been drawn to reports in the media alleging that hackers have seized the Bank's website, cloned it and intercepted customer data.
We would like to assure all our Customers and Stakeholders that the Bank's website has not been hacked the bank clarified.
“Our dedicated team of Information Security Experts are currently working round the clock to restore domain settings,” the statement added.
The Bank urged customers to disregard the media claims and assured them of its commitment to data security. “We urge all our Customers to please disregard the claims in these media reports and assure you of our relentless efforts to safeguarding customer data,” the bank concluded.
